How to Dispose of a Fire Extinguisher

The families behind FireFX are mostly scuba divers and outdoor enthusiasts, so recycling and the environment matter to us. Rather than pass the buck and simply advise clients to contact their local council, we’ve partnered with trusted disposal providers to offer a genuine, hassle-free solution. Fire extinguishers are classified as dangerous goods and can generally not be disposed of at your household chemical waste collection and/or curbside collection – this service takes care of that for you.

1. Book Your Disposal Below: Start a new order for disposals only (do not mix with a product order). Select the extinguisher type and the qty to dispose of and add to cart. Do this for all the extinguisher types you will send for this order. 9L or 9KG maximum size – we do not currently facilitate large mobile fire extinguisher disposals.
2. Freight: Enter the coupon “disposals” into the coupon field at checkout and apply to remove freight and acknowledge freight is to be arranged from your end. We can only accept disposals in the following warehouses. Stapylton (QLD), Beresfield (NSW), Rydalmere (NSW), and Knoxfield (VIC).
3. Payment: Checkout and complete payment.
4. Order Completion: Contact us for the warehouse address to drop your extinguishers into. Package your disposals ready to ship and attach the email paperwork to your shipment so we can cross-check once we receive it.
5. Dispatch Your Disposals: Call your DG freight company to collect your disposals.

Easy as that. We take care of the rest and you can rest assured you have done your duty of care for our planet and disposed of your extinguishers in the right way.

Please Note

Shipping will need to be done with a dangerous goods carrier. Any additional disposals found in your shipment not added to checkout will incur an additional admin fee of $7.00 per unit, so please double check your paperwork matches your shipment.
